Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to observe change in the degree of myopia depending on the period of eyeglasses replacement myopic children who have no ocular disease and visual malfunction, and to provide basic data to take a proper step on the change of myopia.

Methods: The changes of spherical equivalent refractions (SER) in 582 eyes were screened. It was carried out with 291 myopic children (male 172, female 119) aged from 7 to 11 (9.05 ¡¾ 1.24) who have no ocular disease, and visited an optical shop in Daegu metropolitan city from January in 2013 to December in 2015.

Result: The change of the degree in myopia depending on the period of eyeglasses replacement of myopic children aged from 7 to 11 showed in children who replaced their lenses once a year OD : -058¡¾0.35D and OS : -0.56¡¾0.38 D in SER changed, and in the children who replaced their lenses twice a year OD : -0.94¡¾0.61 D and OS : -0.87¡¾0.56 D in SER changed. For 2 years, the number of replacing lenses was up to 4 times. Among them, the children who replaced once showed OD : -0.58¡¾0.30 D and OS : -0.58¡¾0.30 D on SER change, and the children who replaced 4 times showed OD : -2.04¡¾1.16 D and OS: -2.35¡¾0.69 D on SER change. For 3 years, number of replacing lenses was from 2 to 5 times. Among them, the children who replaced twice showed OD : -1.32¡¾0.58 D and OS : -1.45¡¾0.69D on SER change, and the children who replaced 5 times showed OD : -2.34¡¾0.66 D and OS : -2.27¡¾0.72 D on SER change. Throughout 3 years¡¯ observation, the change of SER depending on the children¡¯s age decreased ?0.71¡¾0.78 D for 7 years old, ?0.70¡¾0.53 D for 8 years old, ?0.60¡¾0.66D for 9 years old, ?0.55¡¾0.60 D for 10 years old and ?0.47¡¾0.46 D for 11 years old.

Conclusion: The shorter the period of myopic children¡¯s eyeglasses replacement was, the more change of SER occurred. Because of full vision correction of myopia, more accommodation is necessary than less correction eyeglasses when near-sighted work, and it is considered to cause faster myopia progression. Less correction for myopia contributes to myopia progression, but may cause amblyopia because of decrease of stereopsis, deficit of visual stimuli, and cause bilateral visual disturbance. It also may reduce speed of reading and concentration ability. To remove cause of amblyopia and to improve speed of reading and concentration ability, it is recommended to use far-sighted eyeglasses with properly corrected visual acuity and near-sighted eyeglasses separately depending on work distance.
